Dear People of God,
It is heart warming to hear from families who have said during the Virus that they are spending a great deal more time with the children. They are having a variety of nights like pizza and movie night, games outdoors, reading times, and even some visual contact with the grandparents. We may not realize it but what is happening in the strengthening bond within families. I have heard people say that the depression years were the best years of their lives. When they expand upon that they always talk about the wonderful things the family did together. Perhaps what this virus is doing is making the Domestic Church much stronger. Today's children will remember a lot longer the things they spent time doing with their parents then any gift we might give them. It works that way for the larger church as well. The more we give as a family to the larger community the more we discover how important they are to us. That is the basis for our Commitment to Parish Life (CPL). Even our parking lot Masses are enjoyed by kids because it is new and something done with family. I encourage you to look for ways that you might enhance your family life, and the life of St. Joseph the Worker.
