In many ways a Faith Family is like our biological family. We tend to turn to sisters and brothers in time of need but we also gather with them for celebrations. We rejoice when they are rejoicing. We mourn when they mourn. We build one another up and we stand by one another in tough times. We are delighted when we hear of a new baby, a graduation, a wedding or even a new job. We are disappointed when they move far away. In the faith family of St. Joseph the Worker we recognize that and honor that in our Commitment to Parish Life. When we do a baptism at Mass it is such a delightful sight to see so many children gather around the baptismal font. When we show the new baby to their “brothers and sisters” the children always have big smiles. The baby seems awestruck to see so many faces almost as if it was too much to take in that their family is so huge. The people gathered at Mass celebrate when children make their first communion. Folks come to be with the family when they are mourning the passing of a loved one. Visitors always comment about how the worshipping community seems to enjoy being at church. They are speaking of YOU! Thank you for seeing this church family as important in your life and the life of your family.
