Many of you in the parish already give a great deal of your time in service to others. The Knights of Columbus, for example, regularly tally up all of the hours the more than 125 men in the parish volunteer every year. It is well into the thousands of hours spent giving back to society. Some people are coaches for youth activities. Some serve as chauffeurs. Some deliver Communion to the hospitals and nursing homes. Some help build homes for Habitat for Humanity. Others distribute tootsie rolls. Still others help an elderly neighbor. There are all kinds of things people do every day to make the world a better place. You probably do to, without even recognizing you are doing it. That is what makes a community. Thank you for the many ways that you give of your time to St. Joseph the Worker. Over the holidays there were hundreds of hours given to make our liturgies successful. On Christmas Day we had nearly 4000 people attend Mass. Things went smoothly because of the many people who gave of their time and talent to make it so successful. To me that shows the commitment you have made to the parish and what makes our parish so unique among churches. Thank you for giving of yourself to the parish.
