Like many of you I am frustrated with our inability to gather once again in a large worshipping community. I am also aware of the information given by health officials of the need to still be safe and provide safety for others. So we remain unable to gather. We were planning an outdoor Mass last weekend but God saw fit to have it rain. We have been desperate for rain the past 2 months so I am grateful for this heavenly gift. I used to joke that if I watered our garden it would rain. If I washed the car and left it out it would rain. If clothes were hung outside to dry it would rain. None of those worked. So we tried scheduling a Mass. And God made it rain. That fact is so true about life in general and COVID19 in particular. The world, our society and our parish had plans, but God has instead given us the opportunity to see, hear and understand with new senses as to how God is working in the world. While many people have turned to electronics that is getting old fast. I am sort of tired of meetings via pictures on the net. I would rather have them in person. Maybe doing without the community for a time will heighten my appreciation for a faith community that is alive. I am also learning that there are many small things in the world that are simply not worth the time trying to change them or figure them out. I suggest today that you spend some time in quite reflection listening to your heart to see what you have discovered from being locked down for 2 months. Is God working in you and your family? I see it and hear it much more, now that I am listening for those good works. That is why the commitment to the Domestic Church is so important.
