When we began Commitment to Parish Life, CPL, 10 years ago, we saw it as one method to connecting folks to all aspects of their life with St. Joe's. We never dreamed that having made that connection over the years it would now become one of the strongest features about our parish. When this virus was beginning to strike and the state of Minnesota was determining how they would react, we tried to cancel our order for palms for Palm Sunday. We were days too late. In fact, the next day they arrived. So what do we do with 2000 palms? We created the drive thru for distribution and absolution since there would be no Penance service this Lent. I was shocked to discover over 350 cars of people who drove thru and expressed what a great idea this was to connect. We had nearly 5000 hits on our Easter Mass. When we did the drive thru this past weekend there were another 250 cars. Folks have written. They've stopped by to pick up a bulletin, they have taken the time to connect with neighbors who need hep. Your commitment to CPL has extended beyond the normal and taken it to a very personal level. Thank you for being the parish you are because that has made you a light to the northwest suburbs. Fr. Mike
