Children’s Sacraments: First Reconciliation and First Eucharist

Children who are in the Second Grade (or older) are eligible to prepare for and celebrate First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. First Reconciliation preparation will begin in early October; the celebration of the Sacrament will occur in November. First Eucharist preparation will begin early February and the celebration of the Sacrament will occur 2 different weekends after Easter at all of the weekend Mass times.

Registration for our Sacrament programs occurs when families register their children for Faith Formation classes. Children who prepare and celebrate these Sacraments must be enrolled in a Faith Formation program or be enrolled in an accredited Catholic school.

Please note: Students must be enrolled in Faith Formation classes at least one year prior to celebrating the Sacrament (i.e. to have your child celebrate these Sacraments in Second Grade, they need to be enrolled in Faith Formation classes for First Grade).

Sacramental preparation begins with registration. Parents must register their child to prepare for Sacraments in addition to the Faith Formation classes.

A Parent Meeting will then be held for parents to receive information about the Sacrament. Materials will be provided for the parent and children to complete together at home to enrich the child’s understanding and readiness to receive the Sacrament. Parent/Child workshops are held for both Sacraments in which parents and children can experience hands on activities to provide a more full understanding of the sacrament; Fr. Mike will meet with the children and parents through group events to help the children understand and be prepared to receive the Sacrament(s).

Our First Reconciliation 2024 parent/guardian meeting is on October 8 at 5:00 pm and October 9 at 6:30 pm. First Reconciliation prayer stations and celebration of the Sacrament is November 23, 2024.

Our First Eucharist 2025 parent/guardian meeting is on January 28 at 5:00 pm and January 29 at 6:30 pm. First Eucharist weekends are April 26/27 and May 3/4 during all Mass times. Families will register for a First Eucharist Mass time in January.
