Commitment to Parish Life (CPL) supports and assists the mission of our parish to "Be the change, be Christ". In his message for the 2022 World Day of the Poor, Pope Francis said that “Where the poor are concerned, it is not talk that matters; what matters is rolling up our sleeves and putting our faith into practice through a direct involvement, one that cannot be delegated.”
Your CPL contribution helped to make SJTW's ChristPower Mission Trip at Mobile Hope an impactful experience for our high schoolers last summer. ChristPower offers engaging prayer experiences, fun games, free-time bonding, all while making a real difference serving the need in the community.
Alyssa Baranick and Kate Powers were two of our teens who participated in the ChristPower and put their faith in action. Alyssa says her favorite memory of ChristPower was "meeting new people and playing with the children in the Mobile Hope Community". Kate says her ChristPower experience "strengthened her relationship with God by showing any gesture, big or small, can impact someone else greatly."
Both Alyssa & Kate's experience with Mobile Hope has inspired them to continue serving the Dayton Park community and now volunteer at Mobile Hope's Homework Help, assisting students with their schoolwork - knowing that academic achievement is critical to their future success. We applaud Alyssa and Kate for their dedication to serving others and being role models to encourage all our teens at SJTW to put their faith in action and be the change, be Christ.
Your generous support of CPL allows SJTW to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world today. To learn more about the ChristPower Mission trip or to register, visit the parish website at https://sjtw.net/christpower.
