As of December 10, we have received 317 Commitment to Parish Life (CPL) pledge Cards from member households. Thanks to those that have returned those and a reminder to those that have not, please return yours as soon as possible. As Christmas approaches and you begin to take seriously your Christmas “to do” tasks and endless shopping needs, I hope that you will add St. Joseph the Worker to your list. First and foremost, take time to be still and pray during this very busy time. Advent is about waiting and preparing. Second, consider your CPL Commitment for 2020. Give it some prayerful consideration. Then, offer your CPL gift in terms of a planned, intentional and sacrificial gift for 2020. Your CPL Commitment is the perfect gift for St. Joseph the Worker. Additional commitment cards can be found at the church entryways, parish office, or your can simply download a new card (top of page) Remember, you are the best judge your gift amount. If you are unable to make that commitment at this time, simply indicate that on your commitment card and return the card to the office. Thank you for your CPL commitment.

As of December 1, we have received 272 CPL Commitment Cards from member households. I am thankful that so many have taken the time to consider their financial commitment to St. Joseph the Worker. Your intentional gift of financial support is vital to the ongoing success of our ministries. Still, I will remain persistent in my appeal to hear back from every household in our parish. It takes all of our gifts (financial as well as our gifts of time and talent) to do what our mission requires. If you are still to do so, please take time to return your CPL Commitment Card to the Parish Office this week. There are additional cards in the office and at the entryways to the worship space. Every gift, regardless of the amount, is vital to our work in the parish.
This past week each household was asked to give prayerful consideration to their yearly Commitment to Parish Life (CPL) for the calendar year 2020. You should have received a CPL commitment card in the mail along with a letter by Fr. Mike. Please complete the commitment/pledge card indicating your 2020 gift amount. Utilize the chart on the back side of the card to determine your current CPL level. Then, take a step in faith (percentage step) while making your pledge for the coming year.
Seal your card in the return envelope and then bring it to Mass with you one of the following weekends. Returning your commitment card is a visible sign to others of your commitment to our SJTW family. Additional CPL commitment cards will be available in the pews if you happen to forget yours at home.
For those already making an electronic/recurring gift through your Shelby Arena account
In response to many of you looking for a simple online AND mobile giving experience, we are moving from Shelby Arena to a new online giving platform called Pushpay. If not already, in just a few days, you will receive an email notification inviting you to make the switch to Pushpay. Follow the link in the email and you will see your current gift already transferred to Pushpay. Simply review and edit as necessary. Then complete the set-up of your account with your bank account (or credit card) information. You will appreciate the simplicity of the switch and ease of accessing your account. Once you make the switch to Pushpay, your recurring gift through your arena account will be halted. As always, call the parish office if you need guidance making the switch.
For those wanting to set up your CPL giving as an electronic/recurring gift... Please consider joining those who give electronically by offering a recurring gift to the parish through your bank account or credit card. This consistent giving mechanism is convenient and extremely helpful to our parish’s financial stability. You can set up your recurring gift in less than 10 minutes. Do so by going to www.sjtw.net and click “Donate”. You control the giving schedule and the amount of your recurring gift. More than 325 households already do this, and it’s a big help in planning.
This upcoming week, your household will be asked to give prayerful consideration to your yearly Commitment to Parish Life (CPL) for the calendar year 2020. You should receive a CPL commitment card in the mail by November 18. Your CPL commitment is vital to support our growing parish ministries, yet it does not constitute a legally binding agreement. CPL is both a privilege and a responsibility, reflecting our income and the value we place on St. Joseph the Worker. This annual renewal is not intended only to pay the bills and balance accounts. It is actually a concrete expression of our spirituality and the responsibilities of our faith. It is meant to nurture habits of generosity and self-giving in us that carry over into every aspect of life.
All givers (whether by Sunday envelope, electronic/recurring gifts, stock, IRA’s, etc) are asked to complete and return a CPL commitment card.
We do recommend and encourage households take advantage of our electronic/recurring gift program. There will be specific instructions for current electronic givers as well as those households interested in setting up their CPL through an electronic/recurring gift in the letter arriving by mail. It’s our hope to grow the number of families utilizing our electronic/recurring gift feature from 326 households to 400 households.
If you have any questions regarding CPL, completing the CPL commitment card, or about your commitment, please contact Parish Administrator, Mike Lentz in the parish office, or by email at mike@sjtw.net

Your Commitment to Parish Life creates a Great Parish Life!
There is a Gospel story Jesus tells about how foolish it would be for a person to start building a home and not have enough money to finish the project. It takes planning and wise financing to reach the goal. St. Joseph the Worker embarked on the program of Commitment to Parish Life several years ago to take a total picture of what we do as a parish. We realized that many people are involved in one of our many ministries. People keep approaching us with new ideas of how to minister to children, to young adults, to millennials, to middle age and to senior people. Many of these ministries cost little or nothing in dollars but they do cost in terms of time. It is the parishioners who give of their time while the office manages space. Eventually each ministry costs the dollars of staff time to oversee, train, and to maintain the ministry. Your dollars make sure the whole parish benefits from these ministries. Thank you for giving so generously of your talents, new ideas and the dollars necessary to make things work smoothly.
