Jean Lorenz is active in the Angel Quilters ministry as their coordinator and quilt top sewer. Angel Quilters aim to serve others by creating warm quilts for those in need that are then sent to other organizations. Jean also participates in many other ministries at SJTW, including the Funeral Ministry, Sharing and Caring Hands, and more!
Angel Quilters began in 1998 in the basement of Dorothy Rinkenberger, later being moved to the church in 2015. SJTW’s support has allowed the group to reach out to more people, with over 8,000 quilts donated since their start! The quilts are donated to groups such as Home Free, Sharing & Caring Hands, Osseo Schools, and various nursing homes in the community. “The members not only give as Christ has asked, but in doing so have been given a fellowship based in faith.” Jean uses the talents God has given her to help those in need and run the ministry smoothly.
The Angel Quilters would love new members! Jean says that members meet in the mornings three Tuesdays a month, tying the tops and bottoms of the quilts together for the sergers to finish the binding. “If you can thread a needle and tie a knot you've got the skills needed.” The ministry is looking for sewers to put the patterned tops together, which can be done at home. It’s not all work though; during meetings they set time for prayer and even break for coffee and treats!
