Our mission: To dedicate our time and talent to enhancing our community’s awareness of God’s gift of nature through beautifying the landscape of our Church.
In the fall of 1996, we started as The St Joes Garden Club, but soon realized our work in maintaining our Churches landscape was more of a way to give back, a calling, a ministry. In 1997, we wrote our mission statement and changed our name to St Joseph the Worker Garden Ministry. Since then, we have not only beatified our Churches landscape and built a fellowship, but we have also inspired our Church community to take notice and become active in nurturing the earth. We brighten spirits and encourage others to become caretakers of the world.
This year our Garden Ministry will have 2 crews maintaining our beautiful landscape. During the growing season, our Gardening Crew will meet most Monday mornings at 9 am and Wednesday evenings at 5:30 to help with watering, deadheading and weeding. Our Landscape Crew will help with the heavier jobs such as shearing, pruning, pulling and planting new trees and shrubs, installing new flower beds and the biggest job of all, moving 35 yards of wood mulch! This crew will be working some Saturday mornings and some evenings. Our church landscape is large so any and all help is much appreciated and can be done independently at a time convenient for you. Instruction provided.
We welcome everyone, experienced or not, of all ages. Groups, families and individuals, please consider volunteering in our gardens or with the heavier work of landscaping. By helping on our Gardening Crew weekly or our Landscape Crew every once in a while, you can look at our Churches landscape and gardens with pride in knowing you helped in making them beautiful! Our Garden Ministry has accomplished much over the past 26 years. Imagine what else we can be do with more hands!
