Sing to the Lord a New Song!
The SJTW choirs will be starting up again in mid-September for a new season of singing and praising God with our voices. We welcome anyone who enjoys singing to join one of our great choirs.
We are in great need of choir members for our 5:00pm Saturday mass. They rehearse at 3:30 right before mass and then sing at mass. The Sunday, 8:30 choir rehearses on Tuesdays 6:30-8pm and the Sunday, 10:30 choir rehearses on Wednesdays 7-8:30pm. We also have a Christmas Concert Choir (Oct-Dec) and a Triduum choir (Mar-April) for Holy Week if you are not able to commit to a weekly choir. Please contact Marc or Tarri in the office to join a choir or sign up at the information desk.
New Member Welcome ministry we need you!
Have you ever heard someone comment that St. Joe’s is a welcoming, friendly parish? Do you like to meet new people? One of the main reasons we encourage everyone to wear nametags is to help us be called by named. However, St. Joe’s is a big parish, with about 2200 families and over 8500 members!! That is like a town!
When a person joins our parish, we want to help them feel welcome and give them every opportunity to meet people and build relationships in their new parish community.
We are starting a new ministry to pair up a new St Joe’s member with someone from our New Member Welcome ministry. You will reach out to the new member…meet them at mass…answer any questions they may have….invite them to social time after mass. You will provide them with a friendly face and a way to begin to feel at home here at St. Joe’s.
We would like to get 5-6 welcoming people for each mass time, so when a person registers, we can pair them up with someone from the mass time that they prefer.
If you feel you could do this, please contact Tarri at tnelson@sjtw or call 763-400-7205, or sign up at the information desk, to join this new ministry.
Volunteers Needed: Sound Board Ministry
Join the Sound Team. This is a unique ministry that aims to provide quality sound at all the masses. It requires a good ear for what you hear in the church and an ability to balance levels for both voice and instrument. Young Adults and Adults are encouraged to volunteer. Those with music and sound familiarity are especially encouraged to join. You choose the mass time and dates you can serve. Attention to detail is required and training will be provided. We happily accept those who are willing to take on the task of learning the soundboard. Contact Marc at mstockert@sjtw.net or call the Parish Office.
Social Ministry
After all our masses, parishioners have the opportunity to build community and relationships by enjoying a sweet treat and beverage after mass in St. Joe's Hall. Teams of volunteers help set up, serve and clean on up, usually being on the schedule every 4-5 weeks. However, we are in great need of more people to help out with social hour after the Saturday night, 5:00 mass. The same people have ended up doing it week after week. In order for social hour to continue on Saturday night, we need more volunteers. Please contact Tarri Nelson in the parish office to volunteer. (tnelson@sjtw.net, 763-400-7205)
What is a Stephen Minister?
Stephen Ministers are servants, listeners, supportive resource persons and caring Christian friends. Stephen Ministers are not counselors, therapists or pastors. The training that Stephen Ministers receive help insure that these parishioners have a clear understanding of the definition. After 50 hours of training on various problems and a variety of situations. ministers are assigned a confidential situation with a care receiver and then attend a monthly supervision where they receive support fortheir ministry. If you are interested in participating in the upcoming training which begins in January, please call Beth Ann Hart at 763-496-1365.
"LET ME CARE FOR YOU"
Those words can bring relief to people going through difficult times in life. A Stephen Minister is willing and able to care for you by listening and being there while you work through this tough times. If this is the kind of care for you or a loved one, please call Beth Ann Hart 763-496-1365.

St. Joseph the Worker has trained parishioners to help the family of a loved one plan the their funeral liturgy. The funeral planners will also meet with those who would like to plan their own funeral liturgy. The funeral planners will provide support throughout the funeral planning process, offer suggestions, and guide the family through the funeral planning process. The funeral planners will meet with family members at the parish or in their home, whichever is most convenient. Contact Tarri Nelson at 763-400-7205 or tnelson@sjtw.net.

Funeral Luncheon Ministers
Funeral Luncheon Ministers are an integral part of the hospitality and welcome St. Joseph the Worker provides for families who are experiencing the death of a loved one. They are persons who shop for, cook, and serve funeral luncheons. We welcome younger persons being trained into this ministry by our faithful, efficient Seniors who show us how much fun it can be to serve together in this way. Also needed is a person or two who would be willing to do child care here in our nursery while these younger persons help in the kitchen and dining room. Contact Tarri at 764-400-7205 or email tnelson@sjtw.net
Hospital Ministry/Visitation
Hospitals are essential, hopeful, and helpful. They may also be a scary, painful, lonely, or sad environment. Whenever you or someone you love is in the hospital, your church community can offer meaningful support. St. Joseph the Worker has trained ministers who bring the hope and prayer of the community and a confidential listening ear to our parishioners. Eucharistic Ministers may visit and bring communion; our priests visit and offer the sacraments of healing and reconciliation. When you or a member of your family is admitted to a hospital, please, let the hospital staff know that you are a member of St. Joseph the Worker in Maple Grove. All area hospitals have chaplains who are available. If you would like to be visited, please let the hospital staff know and someone from chaplaincy will bring you Eucharist. They will also call the parish office if, during the admitting process, you answer the question, "Do you have a religious preference?" with a "Yes, Catholic, SJTW." Then someone from our parish will also visit you. In an emergency, please ask the hospital staff to call the hospital chaplain or a Catholic Priest. Please contact Mike Lentz with questions at 763-400-7203 or mike@sjtw.net.
