It is always a joy for me to hear stories from families about their Thanksgiving gatherings. Sometimes it is just a couple and other times it is a house full. Everybody seems to do it differently. People will go to the biggest house. They may go to grandma’s because she has always hosted the family. Other times, the big meal rotates. Sometimes, each family member is supposed to bring one thing. Sometimes, it is even the same thing every year because “you do it so well!” When we recognize the church and the parish as a large family, it has many similarities. People usually go to the same Mass and sit in the same place. The social time before Mass and afterwards is getting louder because more folks are joining in. Everyone brings something to the table of the Lord. It is usually our weaknesses and faults. But since we all have those, we lift one another up in prayer and support. Commitment to Parish Life, or CPL, recognizes that everyone in the parish is important. Everyone has something to contribute. Some things are very visible while others operate in the dark and go unseen. What do you bring to the altar when you come to St. Joseph’s? Fr. Mike
