Upon arriving at St. Joseph the Worker many people told me that the reason they belong to this parish and the reason they joined is that we emphasize the need to see Christ in one another and not just at Mass. Over the years that grew and developed into the many programs we now offer at St. Joe’s. The result of that was about 10 years ago we found that people who made a commitment to the parish came to have greater ownership of the parish and the programs that they were involved in. What happened is where we used to have hundreds of volunteers doing ministries we now have over a thousand. Sometimes people do something similar to their job. Many other times people want to do a ministry that allows them to give to others. So not only do we have more ministries than we used to have, but we have more people involved in those ministries. As people have become involved they have discovered we are a faith-filled family who looks out for one another. This fall many of our ministries are looking for people who want to become a part of this community. How about you? Would you like to serve others at our Eucharistic celebrations? Do you want to get involved in our Faith Formation programs? Are you interested in being a Stephen’s Minister or working in one of our social justice programs? Just contact the church office or the ministry office and we will be glad to welcome you as a committed member of our faith family. Fr. Mike
