We have an AMERICAN POPE! By taking the name Leo XIV, our new pope has signaled his intent to extend the legacy of Leo XIII’s Catholic Social Doctrine into the digital revolution and the ethical questions raised by artificial intelligence. As part of our on-going series “Sow Seeds of Justice” we will explore the legacy of Pope Leo XIII as well as breaking open Pope Leo XIV’s first Apostolic Exhortation “Dilexi Te” (“I have loved you”).
Catholic Social Doctrine is considered to be one of the hidden gems of the Catholic faith! Biblical justice is not about crime and punishment or political parties or agendas - Catholic Social Doctrine provides today’s Catholics a framework to live in right-relationship with the world around us. In a world that seems to be more divided by the day – Catholic Social Teaching shows us how to apply practices of mercy, justice, and unity.
Adults 21 and older are invited for an engaging evening of discussion and reflection (and adult beverages) as we unpack the first words of the first American Pope!
Pope Leo Then and Now Thursday December 11th in St. Joseph Hall at 6:30 pm.
