At the dedication of our worship space on May 1, 2003, the Archbishop said “You are the best singing, best praying parish in the diocese!” That has been one of the hallmarks of this parish for years. The enthusiasm with which you sing. The volume with which you respond in prayer, are signs of the presence of Christ in you and in your worship. Even when people can see the strange way our church is laid out compared to the building of a hundred years ago. Even when we do things differently than they have experienced. They leave feeling they have been in a vibrant worshiping space. When we have kids dancing in the aisles because the music is so good. When little kids clap their hands because everyone is, then our worship is having an effect in their lives. Our high school students go to the basilica for Confirmation. When they respond to the questions the Archbishop poses about the renewal of Baptismal promises, even he notices how loud and intent the youth are in proclaiming their faith. Whatever you are doing, it is catchy. Years ago when our parish went to Commitment to Parish Life (CPL) it was already apparent that worship was one of our strengths. You have freely and generously given of your time and talent to make our worship come alive. Now it lives in you every day of the week. Thank you for giving back to God in such a generous fashion.
