The Cardinal from Rome spoke about the two Pastoral Letter Pope Francis has written. He told us how the Pope uses the documents of Vatican II to root his thinking. The Pope feels that unless you embrace the documents from the Council you cannot really move into the 20th or 21 centuries. He does point out that The Council of Trent was 450+ years ago. It may have worked with how the world was then, but it does not address the world as we find it today. What I found encouraging was the emphasis the Holy Father puts on making the church a community in which we recognize that the Holy Spirit works through the people, not just the Pope or other clergy. I have certainly found that true in our parish. So many of you know so much more than I do about finance, personnel, buildings, maintenance and so many other things. I always value your input. It really becomes a family when we all make a commitment to making the parish a priority. Thank you for your investment in making this parish work for the common good.
