Whenever there is a baptism at Mass it is noticeable that family and members of the congregation gather around the family. We greet them, smile at the baby, and frequently make baby sounds. Extended family who come for the baptism are always surprised, yet delighted, that so many people from our parish are there to welcome baby and family. We truly do take delight that a new child is welcomed into our faith family. Commitment to Parish Life extends beyond the activities we do and the money we give. It includes simply recognizing that we are a faith family in so many ways. When we have a conversation with those who sit around us before Mass, we are welcoming one another to the banquet table of Jesus. He is the reason we gather. Sharing our lives with one another is what makes us family. During the coming season of Lent I encourage you to meet one new person or family each week. Before Mass. During the sign of peace. At the social hour afterwards. When we do this we strengthen the bonds of this faith family. Fr. Mike
