Many visitors to our parish say they like coming here because they always feel so welcome. Thank you for opening your arms and lives to welcome the stranger in our midst.
When I was growing up in our house when you stood up from the table after supper everyone grabbed their plate, silverware and glass and took it to the kitchen. The dishwasher at that time was the children who were to wash and dry that week. We all pitched in and it went faster if we each did a little bit.
When our family used to gather for Thanksgiving each member of the family would bring something. Some would bring paper products. Others might bring food to clean and cook. Yet others would bring the turkey, stuffing, and make the gravy. We all pitched in and things went quite well.
At the beginning of a new year is always the opportunity to begin every day, every year with a fresh start. St. Joseph the Worker offers many opportunities to try new ministries that might require us to stretch, do new things or get involved in places we had never thought of before.
