“And with the washing of the feet, the Lord teaches us to be servants, and above all, servants as He was a servant to us, for every one of us.” – Pope Francis
Your generous support to CPL makes monthly breakfasts served at Sharing & Caring Hands possible.
Parishioners, Pat and Kim Salzer, are a part of SJTW’s Sharing and Caring Hands ministry. This is a hands-on ministry dedicated to preparing and serving hot meals to hundreds of Minneapolis' most vulnerable individuals each month. “These basic needs are talked about in the Gospels and challenge us to be Christ to others”, Pat and Kim say. Some of their favorite memories from being in the ministry are seeing the gratitude of those they serve; “They truly appreciate the volunteers who are taking time just for them.”
Spending time at Sharing and Caring Hands has made Pat and Kim aware that God is everywhere and in each person. Their work has strengthened their faith in God, and by choosing to be Christ to others, they can offer the opportunity to be more like Him. “It takes the blindfolds off to allow us to see Christ in others and makes us appreciate the gifts and blessings God has given us.”
Volunteer service and helping others has always been a part of Pat and Kim’s lives. They enjoy being part of the SJTW community that serves others and helps those in need. “In a sense it’s a call from God to jump in and do his work.”
For those interested in being a part of the Sharing and Caring Hands ministry, Pat and Kim’s advice is “Challenge yourself to let go and take the blindfolds off. Be unconditionally kind with no strings attached. See Christ in others.”
