“All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children."
- Isaiah 54:13
Parishioner Anna Bohlke is a Sunday School catechist, and in her second year teaching the 3-year-old class. One of her favorite memories is the Nativity Program held every December. “It’s fun getting to see the kids work hard to learn the songs and the Nativity story to then perform it for their families.”
Teaching Sunday School has helped Anna further her relationship with God as she gets to learn about Him through the eyes of the kids. “Hearing how they interpret stories and relate it to their lives is a great perspective that anyone could benefit from,” she shares. Starting her week with the positivity of these young learners has been transformative.
In addition to her role as a catechist, Anna volunteers with Sharing & Caring Hands and Pack with Purpose. Through these ministries, she demonstrates her commitment to serving others and building a stronger parish community.
For those interested in becoming a catechist, Anna says not to worry about whether you have enough experience. “Have an open heart and be willing to just give your time and share your faith. The program supplies every resource you would need and the kids supply the willingness to learn, and usually the laughs.”
