Your generous support of CPL builds our parish community for all ages. Parishioner Megan Barker is an active member of SJTW’s high school youth group and serves as a teen leader for Youth Ministry. She began her volunteer journey as a sophomore, attending meetings and quickly getting involved in retreats through prayer ministry, giving talks, and planning games. Megan also volunteers at the annual middle school lock-in.
Her role as a teen leader has helped her grow closer to God and allowed her to see Christ’s light in others. “It has made me believe that there is goodness in people of all ages. Gratitude has become a big thing in my life since I started on the teen leader ministry, whether it's for small things or finding the silver lining during turbulent times.” One of her favorite memories is participating in a prayer ministry with other teen leaders, having a heart-to-heart conversation, and talking for so long that they were the only ones left in the group!
The youth group is always looking for more teen leaders. Meetings are from 5-6:45pm on Tuesdays in the new Youth Room downstairs. “It's a super fun group of kids and I highly recommend it to any and every teen who is interested in becoming closer to God or finding friends your age at church. We hope to see you there!” Megan says. “Just come to a meeting! If you are even thinking about coming, do it. It's a great opportunity to even get volunteer hours for Confirmation or school.”
